Respondus

Purpose

Respondus is an app that prevents students from navigating to websites while taking an exam.  It also helps instructors monitor the actions of students during the assessment.

Description

Respondus is a software application primarily used in educational settings to create and manage online assessments. It's designed to enhance the security and integrity of online exams, particularly in learning management systems (LMS) like Canvas. Respondus provides features to enhance exam security, such as LockDown Browser functionality, which limits students' ability to navigate away from the exam screen or access other applications during the test, and Monitoring, which allows the student's camera to record the student while taking the exam.  There is also the option to record the student's screen.  Instructors may also allow students to use iPads to complete assessments.

Respondus is already loaded in Canvas.  You will need to move it to your course navigation bar if it is not already there.

Students will need to download and install an app or extension for newer Chromebooks in order to take the exam.  If the app or extension is not loaded at the time of the exam, students will be directed to do so when they start the exam.
